Her mother and aunts grew up singing in church while her uncle and cousins played piano and guitar\u2026 and that\u2019s where she fell in love with the art. She always envied them on church stage but she was still very young to perform\u2026and even though she was very shy, she always knew that\u2019s what she wanted to do as she grew up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u2019my mother used to call my name out in assembly to lead with a song and my heart would drop to my feet\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When she got to secondary school, she started performing in talent shows and the admiration from the audience boosted her confidence\u2026that\u2019s when she knew she wanted to be a performer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe allow=\"autoplay *; encrypted-media *; fullscreen *\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"450\" style=\"width:100%;max-width:660px;overflow:hidden;background:transparent;\" sandbox=\"allow-forms allow-popups allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-storage-access-by-user-activation allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.music.apple.com\/au\/album\/emotions-ep\/1567876175\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Rati broke into the music industry when she started performing with \u2018\u2019Gabs Voce\u2019\u2019, a boy group that does choral. They performed mostly at weddings and it was the best feeling for her. The group approached her at a time when she wanted to really break into the industry and that helped her a lot as a group called \u2018\u2019Metrophones\u2019\u2019 approached her to be their lead singer. From that moment on, she performed at corporate functions with the group\u2026and sometimes would be booked alone at weddings. She also performed alone at prestigious restaurant such as Avani, GrandPalm, Dros just to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With cover songs experience, Rati is sure that her \u2018\u2019EP\u2019\u2019 will leave many inspired with awe and that Batswana and other countries will enjoy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest challenges in her music career has been self-doubt in what she can give and shyness. \u2018\u2019Self doubt has over the years been my main challenge but day by day I am working on improving that,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also mentioned that her shyness has had her trembling at the first song of the performance but once that\u2019s over, she gives the most electrifying performance because she knows her life depends on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the ups and downs of building a career in the spotlight, Rati has always relied on her family particularly her mother. \u2018\u2019She always knew I wanted to be in the performing arts and has always encouraged me 100%.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rati comes from a family of singers and players.
