As part of their brand projects, local fusion duo ‘taola’ will be launching ‘The Lounge Experiment’ aimed at bringing live lounge music and the DJ experience to the forefront.  The event is slated for August 26th at Sky Lounge.

“The Lounge Experiment is inspired by the fusion of live music and the DJ culture. It’s an event that speaks to people who love lounge music in its various forms and also want to experience a unique and vibrant music offering that isn’t quite the norm,” states event co-founder and artist Thato Angela Chuma.

“When it comes to lounge and house music, the culture and its followers remain underground. We saw a great opportunity to bring a refined lounge culture experience to the mainstream, and to music lovers who enjoy this vast genre, as well as give attendees a unique social experience,” says Chuma. “Taola’s music, as the first fusion duo in the country, has garnered the attention of international DJs such as London’s Reel People and SABC 3’s Club Culture, which inspired them to introduce a similar vibe in the entertainment scene,” she adds.

Genres such as deep house, soul, rare groove, electro and alternative pop will be explored at the event and DJs will be primarily playing vinyl. Performing at the event will be taola, DJ Bigga who has played along side international artists such as Talib Kweli and Dead Prez, and local vinyl devotees DJ KMoe and DJ Sips amongst others.

The event also brings with it unique elements such as guests making their own experimental cocktails and drinks. A ‘mixologist’ will assist guests who are keen on making their own signature drinks using locally sourced ingredients and inventive combinations.

“We look forward to the event growing and nurturing the lounge music culture in Botswana.”

The sessions are proudly sponsored by LCM Capital, Four4beats and Sky Lounge.
