Stretch’s #VoxRated – El Zintle [ 3 ]

In a lot of radio interviews, I’m asked which artists, if any, I would like to work with. And in all honesty, I’ve ALREADY worked with them. Enter the master songstress herself…

See, Ellen is more than a singer. She’s a conductor. We’re talking about a person who can play a little bit of piano. We’re talking about some who can produce and record HERSELF (yes, she’s done it, and to stellar effect). Most people only hope to be that capable.

Simply put, she’s a melody machine on two legs. There’s always a captivating “ohh” or “ahh” flowing from her mouth, a sultry and seductive tremor colors her slightly course vibrato, and her distinctly Afro runs skip up and down a collage of bebop and soul scales. Sing me to sleep, El, why don’t you?

I don’t even have a smooth transition to this point right here, so I’m just saying it. Producers, for the love of all things holy, STOP putting excessive autotune on her voice! That’s like coating a brand new Lambo in chappies wrappers; it’s stupid. Damn it. Okay, I’m done.

I don’t think I’m the easiest person to impress, yet every time she steps in the studio, I remember that I love to make music. And this is the type of energy that radiated from her truly beautiful voice, onto her gifted records, and into our ears. All that good energy is only turned up to 11 by the fact that she really is an adorable, happy-go-lucky, face-palming-naive 20-something-year-old.
