My Perfect Noise Experience – Stevie G DJ’s journey: Part 2

As I submitted that last article to the editor, I knew for sure I was going to do a part 2 of my Perfect Noise (PN) journey. The experience, the vibe, the pure adrenaline left on stage…there was so much left unsaid in that piece; it had me like I was just touching on glimpses of the fairy dust that one feels in the air when they attend one of these.

You honestly cannot talk about PN in one sitting, there is always so much to say, you only just have to ask anyone that’s been to any of the 19 Perfect Noise Open Mic Sessions. 3 years in and the PN movement has grown and turned into something akin to family. You can hear it in DIRECTEDBYKIZITO’s voice as you run into him somewhere in the crowd’s midst, expressing his gratitude to you as a guest for “gracing the event with your presence”. I’m playing Stretch’s Eyiedzi Buyantashi in the background plays as I write this article, I somehow find that it keeps sending me back to the 30th of May 2021. Oh what a night! Oh what a stellar performance by Stretch, the live band and all.

To be honest with you, I can’t listen to this album and not be thrown back to that night…every single time. Take a song like Ghost as an example, I can only but think of this moment when it plays

The intro to Stretch’s performance lives rent-free in my mind because of the great finesse on the intro, with blissful harmonies to match. That intro had folks stopping whatever it is they were busy with that moment, as you immediately get a sense that something grand was coming through in a moment…all topped off with an electric performance of Folomih, which features our dearly departed Sasa Klaas & Veezo View with a response that equalled what seemed like Sasa was present, right there with us in the crowd.

Her memory will live on forever.
(Spotted in the crowd are Mpho Sebina & Dato Seiko who were kind enough to autograph my t-shirt)

2 songs in and we all felt the shockwaves, Stretch was super intent on not going to give us a chance to catch a breath. Senti, Design ft Sal AngeL… man oh man, we honestly weren’t ready. This was coming off the backdrop of fire sets by Wayne The Maestro & Anything With Yussef.

Surely, surely! The perfect noise open mic session should be on your list of must attend events in Gabs. See you at the next one
