Zambian-born and Botswana-raised eclectic soul and R&B musician Moonga K. has released a song titled ‘Up’ off his upcoming four-track EP IV set for release in July.

The track is available for streaming and download(link is external) on all major digital platforms. ‘Up’ was produced by Quietmoneymusic (James McMillan) & The Elements and follows the release of his critically acclaimed EP CANDID.

The song serves as the first record off IV and boasts a bright tempo, complimented by airy, summery synths, lo-fi piano range and elated trumpets. The illustrious production gives way for Moonga K. to enchant his listeners with another healthy dose of free-spirited charm, mood-shifting lyricism and conscious messaging.

“‘Up’ is a song about focusing on practising and living in joy even though the world can be a scary place sometimes,” Moonga K. said. “This is an anthem to keep moving forward, with yourself, with your loved ones and revelling in the hope of only going upwards.”

From a firm musical background, Moonga started singing at six, performing at nine and was prompted to write after hearing Frank Ocean’s ‘American Wedding’ at the age 14. With further influences including Prince, Laura Mvula, D’Angelo, Ntozake Shange and Janelle Monáe, Moonga K. wraps his diverse palette into a sound that incorporates R&B, funk, soul, hip hop, rock, and electronic styles.
