We reached out to Mpho Sebina a few weeks back regarding her work, music plans and just an all round catch up on all the things she’s been busy with. In the weeks since we did this interview she’s done the Okavango Music Festival, collaboratively dropped a song with Thato Jessica and been working on new music which we’re hoping to share soon. EBW: Summarise your music plans for the next 6 months whats Mpho busy with project and music wise?
Mpho Sebina: I
wanna give my peoples some music. It’s been a tough year in terms of production
but I hope to share some of my work . Also collaborating with some artists
locally and some I’ve met along my travels
EBW: You recently
did a ‘residency’ in Germany? Explain to us what that was about

Mpho Sebina: The
Goethe Institute as well as Pop Kultur festival put out a scholarship for
musicians around the globe. I applied and 10 of us where selected . It was 11
days of networking , workshops, creating , performances and interviews. A beautiful
eye opening experience
EBW: What were some of the key takeaways out of that
Mpho Sebina: I met
a lot of amazing artist whomst I hope to Collabo with also it inspired me to be
more involved in the music making process in terms of production, it’s a
direction I’d like to take
EBW: How important
is performance and PR in your life as an artist?
Mpho Sebina: I love
to perform it’s a space where I can connect with my listeners one on one and I also feel free on
stage

EBW: You recently
announced that you did work on Zulu Wedding, how did that come about.
Mpho Sebina: The
director of the film Lineo Sekeleoane reached out to me and we had a meeting in
Sandton about making music for the film. Charles Favi Motsemme of Goldenchild
productions and I sat down and created the music in Gaborone which can be heard
in the film!
EBW: Congratulations
on that by the way, how was the experience for you.
Mpho Sebina: It was
awesome. Never in a million years did I think I’d be making music for films!
